Human Remains Dogs (HR Dogs)

As part of the ongoing investigation as to the cause of the fire at 606 6th St NE, the Canton Fire Department called in assistance from the Tyler County Office of Emergency Management Search and Rescue Team. They provided a team of three Human Remains dogs (HR Dogs) with their handlers and support staff to help verify that there was no one in the building at the time of the fire. After an extensive search there was no indication of human remains the dogs that they could detect.

The City of Canton and the Canton Fire Department would like to express their gratitude for this volunteer organization for their dedication and hard work.

The cause of the fire is currently listed as undetermined.
