On August 5, 1991, Paul Brown died at age 82. He was born in Norwalk, Ohio, and raised in Massillon. Brown played quarterback at Massillon Washington High School. He returned in 1932 as head coach. Over nine seasons, he compiled an 80–8–2 record. His teams won six state championships and four national titles. Brown introduced the playbook and hand signals for plays. He left in 1941 to coach at Ohio State University. In 1942, he led the Buckeyes to their first national championship. After World War II, he founded the Cleveland Browns in 1946. The team won multiple championships under his leadership. Later, he co-founded the Cincinnati Bengals in 1968. Brown's innovations influenced modern football coaching. His legacy remains significant in Massillon and beyond.
