Be Cautious Of Fraudulent Activity

SNAP EBT and Cash cardholders should be cautious of fraudulent activities, such as skimming and phishing. There have been statewide reports of criminals using these means to steal assistantship benefits. We encourage cardholders to be proactive in protecting their benefits by following these tips:

When using your card, carefully look at the card reader to determine if a skimmer has been fit over it.
Cover the keypad with your hand when you input your PIN, to stop someone from seeing the number entered.
Never share your PIN or EBT card number with another person or through an email, text message, or over the phone.
Do not click links that may be provided in emails or text messages.

If you believe your benefits have been stolen or compromised, take these steps: 1.) change your PIN, 2.) request a new card by calling 1-866-386-3071 (SNAP EBT) or 1-866-320-8822 (Cash card), 3.) notify our office by calling 330-451-8223 or emailing Stark_Fraud@jfs.ohio.gov, and 4.) file a theft report with your local law enforcement agency.
